This dessert is so simple, yet elegant and delish!
2 pears, Bosque or other
1 pie crust dough, 9 inch Pillsbury or any
4 tablespoons cream cheese, 1/3 less fat
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons powdered sugar, divided
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1 egg(s), large, for egg wash
Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Remove pie crust from package and unroll onto the parchment paper. Cut dough in half and then cut each half into 3 pie piece shapes. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese with 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar and the vanilla extract. Spread equal amounts of cream cheese mixture in the center of each tart leaving about 1/2 inch around the edges plain. Cut the pears into quarters and remove the core from each piece. Slice each piece into 3 slices and place slices in a row on top of the cream cheese. Fold 1/2 inch edges of the dough over the tart to form an outer edge. In a small bowl, beat the egg. Use a pastry brush to spread the egg wash over the edges of each tart. Sprinkle top of pears only with cinnamon. Bake for approximately 20 to 22 minutes until pastry is golden. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
