Pop the corn the old fashioned way or use the kettle corn sprinkle mixture on microwave or air popped popcorn (for lower fat versions). Some folks like to spray the cooked popcorn with cooking spray so the sugar mix sticks better. Now sit down and enjoy a movie!
1/4 cup canola oil or vegetable oil
1/2 cup popcorn
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
cooking spray, optional
Using a large heavy saucepan, heat oil and add popping corn. Mix sugars and salt and sprinkle over unpopped corn. Cover and cook over medium high heat, shaking gently until popping stops. Remove from heat. If you are using an air popper or microwave to pop the corn then sprinkle the sugar and salt mixture over the popcorn when popped. If desired spray the cooked popcorn with cooking spray or olive oil spray and then sprinkle with sugar mixture so it will stick better.
