Beef Skillet Dinner

This is a one skillet, fast, hearty, tasty kid friendly meal.
1 pound ground beef, extra lean
1/2 onion(s), large
2/3 cup pepper(s), bell, red, yellow, or green, chopped
24 ounces tomato sauce, low sodium
1 cup beef broth or vegetable broth, low sodium
2/3 cup rice, brown, long grain, uncooked
1/4 teaspoon thyme, dried
1/4 teaspoon pepper, black, ground
Lightly coat a large skillet with cooking spray. Heat over medium to medium high heat and brown beef and onion. Drain oil. Add remaining ingredients, cover and simmer for about 35 minutes or until rice is tender.
