Nana's Raised Waffles
Prep Time: 10 minutes plus overnight to allow yeast to rise.
Cooking Time: 20 minutes

1 packet yeast, dry, such as Fleischmans Quick and Easy
2 cups milk, whole
1/2 cup butter, (1 cube)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 cups flour, whole wheat or all purpose
2 egg(s), large
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups strawberries, sliced, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup maple syrup
Pour 1/2 cup of warm water into large metal or glass bowl. Sprinkle in yeast and let set for 5 minutes. Warm milk in microwave for about 30 seconds. Add warmed milk and softened butter to yeast mixture. Add salt, sugar and flour and stir. Cover tightly and let yeast rise overnight unrefrigerated. In the morning stir in beaten eggs and baking soda. Batter may be slightly thin. Cook waffles according to waffle maker instructions, usually about 1 minute. Top with strawberries or drizzle with maple syrup.
