Galette with Apples and Cranberries

This is a simple and delicious dessert. You can use pears or apples and substitute walnuts, almonds or other favorite nuts.

Ingredients

1 package pie crust dough, 9 inch Pillsbury or any

4 apple(s), peeled, cored, and sliced

1/2 cup cranberries, dried

1/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground

1 egg(s), large, for wash

1 tablespoon turbinado sugar, for dusting

1/2 cup nuts, pecans, chopped

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Peel, core and slice apples and place in medium sized bowl. Mix sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl. Add to apples and mix well. Add cranberries and nuts and mix. Place parchment paper on top of a baking sheet and place pie crust dough on top of parchment paper. Roll the pie dough out slightly. Arrange apples in center of pie dough leaving a 2 inch border around the edge. Fold the edges of the dough up and over the edges of the apples folding and overlapping dough as needed. Beat egg in a small bowl and brush over edges of dough. Sprinkle apples and crust with turbinado sugar. Bake for approximately 25 to 30 minutes until crust is golden brown and apples are soft. Remove from the oven and cool for 15 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve.
