Turkey Burgers with Pesto Aioli

This is a delicious way to enjoy ground turkey or chicken.

Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds ground turkey, lean

3/4 cup cheese, cheddar, shredded

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper, black, ground

2 tablespoons pesto sauce (prepared)

1/3 cup mayonnaise, light or reduced fat

cooking spray

6 hamburger buns, whole grain

1 tomato(es), medium, sliced

6 lettuce leaves (Ice Berg or Red Leaf), or any

1/3 cup mayonnaise, light or reduced fat

2 tablespoons pesto sauce (prepared)

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, combine turkey, cheddar, salt, pepper, 1/3 cup mayonnaise and 2 tablespoons of pesto. Mold into 1/4 to 1/2 inch patties and if possible refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm the patties (these patties are softer than ordinary hamburgers). For pesto aioli sauce, combine 1/3 cup of mayonnaise with 2 tablespoons of pesto in a small bowl. Heat grill, grill pan or skillet to medium heat, spray patties with cooking spray, place on grill and cook for 4 or 5 minutes on each side or until the meat is no longer pink inside. Serve the burgers on rolls with lettuce, tomato and pesto aioli sauce.
