Slow Cooker Spaghetti

This takes about 10 minutes to brown the meat, then place everything in the slow cooker before you leave for the day. Quickly cook the noodles just before serving. You can skip the zucchini and carrot but they add extra nutrition without adding many calories.

Ingredients

1 onion(s), medium, chopped

1 zucchini(s), chopped

2 stalk(s) celery, chopped

1 pound ground beef, extra lean

1 pound italian sausage, bulk or casings removed from links

1 carrot(s), diced

1/2 cup mushrooms, Crimini or button or combo, sliced

48 ounces marinara sauce, such as Barilla Tomato and Basil

6 ounces tomato paste

1 pound spaghetti noodles or other noodles, dry

1 tablespoon canola oil or vegetable oil

Preparation

Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Add onion and celery. Saute until tender. Place mixture in the slow cooker. In same skillet, brown ground beef and sausage. Drain and add to slow cooker. Add all other ingredients to slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours or until done. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain. Serve sauce over cooked pasta.
