Teriyaki Beef Skewers

YUM! The kids love these, but because of the sodium and sugar, remember.... moderation! You will need skewers for these. They are best marinated for 2 or more hours up to 12 hours. Serve with rice or for lower carbs and calories, serve with The Simple Skillet Asian Baby Bok Choy with Sesame Garlic, or Snow Peas with Sesame and Garlic or any other Asian vegetable.
1/2 cup soy sauce, low sodium
1/2 cup sugar
6 green onion(s)
1 tablespoon sesame oil, dark
2 teaspoons garlic, crushed from jar
1/4 teaspoon pepper, black, ground
1 pound steak, flank, lean
For the marinade, mix all ingredients except for the steak in a small bowl. Slice the flank steak against the grain and at an angle into thin, long pieces. Place in a flat baking dish and pour marinade over. Mix well to coat all pieces. Refrigerate and marinate for 30 minutes or up to 8 hours. Thread each piece of steak lengthwise onto the skewers. Grill over medium high heat for about 1 to 2 minutes per side until cooked through.
